No Smoking…

Before reading this post, please see our disclaimer here.

A couple of months ago, I was in the market for a new vehicle. I was uber excited because I was going to get the EXACT truck I wanted. A black Yukon Denali…she was beautiful. She was the price my husband wanted. Her wheels shone in the morning sun. Her paint was just waxed. I loved how the step rails came down automatically when you opened the door…*wall slide*

There was one thing wrong with her. She smelled like smoke. And I mean, like someone had just stepped out of the truck with a freshly lit cigarette. I was devastated. This was a deal breaker for me.

And I know what you may be thinking: Stacie, that’s not that big of a deal. Well, honestly, it was for me. I have a sensitive nose…like a pregnant woman’s sensitive nose. How was I going to completely enjoy her? How was I going to go about my daily whatever, smelling this smoke AND being paranoid that the smell would get into my clothes? What if I go to work smelling like cigarettes? Geez…

My husband told me that he could get the smell out. Okay. I may go for it…but how? Getting out that smell is not an easy feat. I trusted my husband and we bought the truck.

I drove her the one and a half hours home periodically letting the sunroof open and the windows down just so I could breath some fresh air. My poor mother had to deal with this the entire ride. I kept telling myself that my husband would fix it and that’s that.

Well, my husband took my truck to someone to try to get rid of the smell. There was a freshener put under the seat and he was right, I didn’t smell the cigarettes. What I did smell started triggering migraines and eventually, when the smell wore off, I smelled the cigarettes again. Now what?

About a month later, I came into Young Living. One of the first things that I looked for was something to add to my laundry (I have a problem with taking the laundry out of the washing machine on time…that’s a whole other blog post) and something to help with this smell in my truck.

I soon discovered this amazing bottle of Purification. This oil is a blend of six essential oils: Citronella, Lavandin, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Myrtle, and Tea Tree. The combination of these oils have a way of removing scents. So…I bought a car diffuser and added a couple drops with water and off I went.

I’m going to be honest with you. I didn’t really expect it to work. I was new to this company (although not new to essential oils) and I am a “believe it when I see it” type of person.

Of course, the smell was gone while the diffuser was going. That’s understandable, right? What got me was how, after working all day and my truck sitting full on in the Alabama sun, I smelled NOTHING when I got back in. I mean, NOTHING. I didn’t smell the Purification but, I DIDN’T SMELL THE CIGARETTE EITHER! Me being a skeptic, I decided to give it some time, maybe this was far fetched. I didn’t turn the diffuser on that afternoon and let my truck sit all night. When I got in the next morning, I still didn’t smell anything!

It was at that point that I decided that Purification was my go-to for stinkiness. I use it for all things stinky. I love discovering new things!!!

Until next time…
